Definitely got the size and has had a decent career in NA, though interesting the EEN describes him as not overly physical despite his size. Looks like a good fit to complement what we have on the forward lines, with versatility to play on either wing.

Together with Anderson, Upitis, Banashkov and the Brits, we've got quite a few players capable of playing in multiple positions up top.

Any news on whether Vorobyev has had his visa issues resolved and is available to play this weekend? Likewise, any update on whether Dillon Lawrence or Martins Jakolevs have been signed, are still on trial, or have been let go?

In fact, any news on anything? It's been awfully quiet since Sunday.

Agreed.

I'd imagine all will be revealed in the Evening News press release tomorrow.

I personally hope that we are setting our sights slightly higher than Lawrence. He was OK and may do alright but we should be targeting players who are improvements on the previous years squad if we want to progress and in all honesty he was no better than any player in last years team from what I saw. Kudos for the effort but for me it's a no. Didn't see Jakolevs so couldn't really pass opinion.

I'd also hope we wouldn't retain Lawrence as it's a D-Man that's required, not an additional forward.

We certainly don't need another forward, so Lawrence can be released.

Martins Jakovlevs though, maybe.... As he's a big D man....and that's what we still require!

I wasn't at the Scottish cup so have not seen him play, but maybe someone who has can give an opinion?

He was the first but it really depends on the circumstances of how and where his Visa office is, similar to Fully last season and how they arrange the meetings and getting it back to the applicant. That said, I'm not particularly concerned tbh. He's just waiting for it to be in his hand.

We've signed the lad Dillon Lawrence for the season.

Have to say - I'm disappointed in this. Really not what we needed and it means it's highly likely that we won't be bringing in the defenseman we clearly need.

Scott says otherwise in the EEN today.

Dont disagree with the rest though.

If we bring in another D man, preferably a big bodied one, then I don't mind signing Lawrence as it is a low risk signing. The only question I'd have is where this leaves the Brits in the pecking order.

Good to hear Pav has his Visa and is now flying over Sunday. We all know what he brings.

The majority are playing well enough to maintain their ice time, Boyd and Speirs in particular. None have been getting benched after a mistake either. I reckon they'll be fine.

Speirs signing has been a real coup. Scottish lads who are able to drop in and look relatively comfy in the EIHL are as rare as hens teeth. Clan really missed one there.
