Sheer cheek to issue a statement and an apology for a one off error to a rival club and fans but they can't say a single thing to those who support the Caps.

The club should be embarrassed but they obviously don't do being embarrassed.

Same, I haven't been for years. I refused to return after the owner stated he was no longer willing to invest his own cash in his own the club.
Three month contracts, inadequate players, price increases, "gold" zone seatings. It has been farce after farce ever since.

I continued to follow the scores from afar but I felt happy that I didn't waste time or cash travelling through to Murrayfield.
I haven been to any games anywhere ever since. I also refuse to go sit in Braehead, Fife or Dundee as they are still regarded as my enemy! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I don't think it will be the Caps last season - it should be, but it won't - The club will struggle through to the end of the current campaign, nothing at all will come from "management" until a few weeks after the playoff finals.
A statement will then be issued apologising to fans for the lack of information provided throughout the winter. A weak, non explained reason will be blamed for that of course. One which we will have no option but to believe.
The club will then say they are looking to the future with a new management structure in place with the problems of recent months put behind them and of course a new era for the club is well underway.
The owner whoever that will be will then promise that lessons have been learned and that more clarity, more information, better communication with the loyal, hardcore fan base will be the new norm.
Those fans of course will be heralded as the reason hockey exists in the city and are the best in the league! That's when the begging will start. Come get your season ticket, re-new now, early bird blah blah blah.
The season ticket money collected will be used to build the strongest, most competitive team the Club can ice with a spot in the playoff finals being the ultimate goal for YOUR all new Edinburgh Capitals!

Read it here first!

Does George Ferdinando have a clue what he is doing running a pro/semi pro hockey club business?

Don't blame the coach really, lack of leadership or support from the owner(s) is where the anger should be vented. Why would you hang about a club like the Caps? Everything they seem to do and say only leads to more questions. Khristich i doubt has ever been around a club so poorly run!

Dave Simms once said to me that Scott Neil was/Is a great guy but is clueless about running a professional sports teams.
Seems he was right.

My IP address also seems to have been blocked too. Classy!

QUOTE (5on3 @ Dec 13 2017, 14:25 ) *
So the club have released a follow up statement today which is good. Doesn't say anything about what any of these changes will mean in practice, but at least it alleviates some of the worry that the club were about to fold/pull out of the EIHL.

http://www.edcapitals.com/news/edinburgh-c...s-to-strengthen

Doesn't really tell us anything does it? Are we officially under new management? What has happened to Scott Neil? Has he left the organisation?

All the fans should stay away every single one of them! A protest at how things have gone this season off the ice AND for all the rubbish they've had to endure for years and years!
Actually maybe not stay away entirely to begin with. Turn up late and wait for the game to start then take a further ten minutes more outside and then enter. You know a warning.
If nothing changes then don't bother turning up for the next home game. Save your money.

That is the only way anybody involved with running the club will take any notice!

In the past fans have helped to fund buses that players have used to travel to games on ( despite this fans weren't allowed to use the loo on the bus in case moving around disturbed sleeping players)
They have given up personal belongings e.g donated TVs in small gestures to help make players stay a little more comfortable.
Others have donated time, written articles for the match night programme, looked after the website and so on and on.
They don't deserve to be kept informed of what is happening to the club?? They might not have significantly invested cash in the club but could the Caps exist without them? Probably not.

The club spoke to the fans and said a statement was due - maybe the hold up is that the new owners don't speak English and we're waiting on translation?! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Sorry, disagree!

People feel invested in the club, they have an emotional attachment. In some cases they love the club too. They might not know why but they do. It's what keeps them coming back. They see it as a lot more than just a service as you put it.

Without the supporters what's the point? The club owes it to the fans and should keep them informed! If fans are just business customers then surely it makes sense to keep your customers happy too?

So what is the reason he left that you have heard? Leaving a doomed team, jumping ship early?

I haven't been to a game for years at Murrayfield but I still can't go to watch Braehead, Fife or Dundee.
I'm not much of a Caps fan these days - after years of following them around the country - but sitting in those other teams venues would definitely feel like cheating!

A few questions...

So what does restructure actually mean? That's what we are waiting to see here isn't it?
If the operating company is wound up can Scott Neil continue as owner? How many operating companies have the Edinburgh Capitals had?
Do we have a history of business failure?
How much money is owed?

Why do we have to wait until next week when the news is happening now!?

Nothing updated on the Gazette site - not that I looked very hard for anything of course!
I guess that is good news then?

Never really understood the whole allocating of seats nonsense at Murrayfield - it was pay at the door and take your 'Non-Seaon ticket' seat anywhere you liked for years and years.
Very few problems were every caused. If you sat on a season ticket seat you were politely notified of that and you moved your butt to somewhere new. Usualy a seat or two next to where you were.
If you liked sitting on a particular seat but couldn't afford a season ticket you just turned up two minutes early and took it.
Murrafield certainly has no gold class seating. It's making things complicated for the sake of making them complicated!
The place is a dump and the club should be making it as easy as possibly for people to just turn up, pay to get in and sit where ever they like.

Sure if the team played out of Braehead or Nottingham go for it, break the seating down into different classes but seriously, not at Murrayfield!

As for the team - I was actually tempted, very tempted to come back and take in a few games this season.
The off-season seemed quite exciting and I was quite keen to see what the one ice product would be. Think I'll just save my money!

New coach, new players, new team-mates, new country, new city, new language (to some) - you don't just gel immediately and bring your A game (Unless you are Jan Krajicek)
