Anyway good luck to Hertl, if his and Staals brothers all turn up we could have a line of ringers ;-)

Somehow I can't see Tomas Hertl wanting to give up the sunshine of San Jose for rainy Edinburgh.

Not sure about Braehead but from experience most clubs don't make very little profit from programme sales, especially in the current financial climate.
The cost of producing a programme and keeping the price at a level fans can afford and willing to pay is always a juggling act.
Most of what is in a programme nowadays can be read on line somewhere so most folk tend to get their information from there.
I remember Scott was looking at a monthly programme but I think that is off the agenda for now.

According to Elite Prospects site Lukas has signed for the club detailed below. Was this the 'personal business' referred to by the Caps.

01/28/2015 Lukas Bohunicky (D) Edinburgh Capitals to HC Ceske Budejovice

Ridiculous length of ban for a hit that happens all the time in games with no action taken at the time.
DOPS? more like DOPES!

Could we have all the refs and linos names in the league listed in the programme please as we used to have?

The officials appointments are only issued to the referee's and linesmen. The EIHL site used to publish them but do not do so any longer for some reason.
I will try and see if I can be sent the appointments again officially but I don't know if this will be possible.

That's a good result. Makes a pleasant change from the pre season hammerings we got from the Stars and Hull last season.

The team so far is the most competetive looking the Caps have had for a long time. I think we need a sniper to go along with Rene and a couple more Brits.
As has been said already I don't think this team will be muscled out defensively and that should make Tomas a happy minder.
It also seems like most of the team will be here for the start of the official fixtures. If one more import is signed, and he and Joe arrives before the
official fixtures start that alone will be a big improvement on other seasons.

Does anyone know if we will be changing the line marking positions for the new rules or are we waiting until next year. I see fife and Nottingham are changing this year but cardiff and Coventry are waiting until next, not sure about other teams.]

I doubt if they will be changed this coming season at Murrayfield as the rule will not apply here until 2015-16 season I believe.
The reason for Nottingham getting it done now is that they are playing in European games under IIHF rules and that has to be done for the coming season.
Not sure about Fife unless it's because they are playing a Danish team in Fife Arena.

Edinburgh Capitals sign defenceman Bohunicky.
Edinburgh Capitals have continued to add size to the squad with the addition of 6ft 4" 220lb defenseman Lukas Bohunicky.

Richard Hartmann said, "Lukas is a big physical shut down defenceman. He looks after his own zone and takes care of the front of the net.
He has had 2 years experience in Canada's WHL, over 200 games in the Slovakian Extraliga and was most recently a member of the Mlada Boleslav
team who got promoted to the Czech Extraliga.

Looks like there will be defencemen who will cover Tomas and make the opposition think twice about taking liberties at our defensive end of the rink.
Good signing.

Scott and Richard will no doubt waiting to see who gets cut from the various North American and Eastern Europe training camps, like several other clubs, to see who is available.

Great news that Jade has decided to return. I did hope that a big D man would be our next signing but this is just as good. Jade was a hard worker at both ends of the ice and his work in the corners will help set up chances for the forwards. This years team seems to be shaping up nicely.
Welcome back Jade.

The IIHF Congress discussed the following at their recent conference in Belarus.

Major proposals that were accepted for the IIHF Rule Book 2014-2018 include:
Moving the blue lines to 22.86 metres (old: 21.33) from the end of the rink to increase each offensive zone by one and half a metres and standardize the length of the offensive zone at all IIHF Championships.
The dimension of the rink is adjusted to 26-30 on 60 metres (old: 29-30 on 60-61 metres) with other dimensions in IIHF competition needing IIHF approval.
Hybrid icing will be introduced beginning in the upcoming season in all IIHF Championships and qualifications.
Spin-o-rama or lacrosse type of moves in penalty shots where the player completes a 360° turn as he approaches the goal will be prohibited.
The membership has agreed that goalkeeper equipment should be reduced and that the “cheater piece” on the goalkeepers’ catch glove is the first piece to be removed as a recommendation. This will be tabled for discussions with manufacturers. As such, it will not yet be included as a rule in the IIHF Rule Book 2014-2018. The purpose is to give the IIHF and manufacturers the opportunity to discuss this initiative along with other measures to reduce the size of goalkeeper equipment.

Following proposals for major rule changes were rejected: ##To penalize any deliberate grabbing, twisting or holding of an opponent’s head with a major penalty.
To move the goal line closer to the end of the rink (from 4 to 3.3 metres).
To reinstate the red-line offside.
To double the penalty for goalkeeper interference to 2+2 minutes
That goalkeepers cannot freeze the puck if the shot originates from outside the blue line.

A ready made back up netminder in Mark McGill is probably available. I would not say no to him at the Caps next season.

Can't be any worse than Les Reaney. Looks like a decent signing, even more so if he can be lined up with Leinweber.

I agree but surely buying one will help:)

We all know that to progress we need to sell more season tickets but, due to human nature people won't part with their cash until they see what it is they are buying.

Looks like a good summary of what was discussed, Thanks fera7.
Whether or not it will appease the Caps fans who are questioning the direction the club is going and get them to buy season tickets early is possib0ly questionable.

I have printed off the season ticket form - and I am thinking about renewal.

To get the best rate for renewal I have to get the payment in by the 15th April - just over a week away and I am not in Edinburgh next week

I am in a dilemma - my work experience dictates that I don't buy anything unless I know what the product is - common sense .

Given that there appears to be no real communication about plans for next year at this time (or details on the Forum) my heart says just go for the groupon/ amazon local deals and save some money - and be selective re-games.

My heart says give it another punt - chuffed at Flyers and Clan putting on such a great show - and still believe we can do the same.

Can someone convince me that my heart is correct? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Maybe if the post re what was said at the Forum is posted in time it may help you make a decision.

A week since the Forum and not one official word from the club, apart from Richard coming back, as to what was actually discussed and the answers to any questions posed.
I thought we had actually moved on to a more progressive response to fans queries but it seems not.

Not easy but I have yet to hear of School visits etc that the racers done when I was wee. It was always against Whitley Bay but pronouncing Hilton Ruggles always kept me amused!

The players do regular school visits where the kids get to try on kit, given a brief run down on the game itself and have their questions asked.

Let's hope the discussions between Scott and Richard bear fruit and are not forgotten when it comes time to build a worthwhile team.
Funding must be the number one priority to enable the club to move forward. It's not an easy thing to get but surely the use of a marketing guru would be
worthwhile even though it would come at a cost in the shape of a %age.
Capital FM so we could become the Capital FM Capitals?

Hiadlovsky said, "I am really happy to come back to Edinburgh. It has been a difficult season but I am confident and determined to take things forward for next. Edinburgh is a great city and deserves a great hockey team."

Jade / Curtis two of our best players, both North American. Now I Know this won't suit everyone, but is that the route we should go down for players next season? I think so!

I have doubts one of them will sign and I agree with your North American route. I honestly believe that the EIHL style of play is unsuited to a team of imports playing a Eastern European style of hockey.
I also think our budget will dictate who we sign and where they were born.

I go to watch the Caps even in an end of season nothing game cos the Caps are the team i love , the team i support and the team i wanna watch.
The season has been a bundle of awfulness without doubt but the Caps are MY team , i have very little interest in Fife or Dundee or Braehead and what they are up to , what games they are playing and who its against.

I would pick the Caps every time and always will. Last , rubbish and depressing we have been a mixture of all season but i will always go watch them over any other team.

It hurts watching my team struggle week in week out , they have lacked quality all season and its been a tough watch and there are some who will go elsewhere for there hockey fix , this is there call and its up to them , but i am a Caps fan and even though they aint good i will always go see them if i can.

I am not looking at things through Caps tinted glasses , i just support my team , that is what a true supporter does (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I live in hope for next season but keep expectations low.

Mon the CAPS!!!

That is what real fans do- support the team through thick and thin. Sadly the thin times have outweighed the thick times but the hard core fan base will always be there.
I get the felling a lot of people who post on here are Hockey Fans rather than Caps fans. If not they would be at Murrayfield supporting the Caps.
